I've been thinking a lot lately...about how much of a freak I am.
No, seriously. I admit it. I am a huge freak.
Why you ask?
I organize WAY too much. I can't stand any sort of clutter or disarray of any kind.
It drives me crazy! I have to organize.
I never really realized how much of a freak I was until I got married and had the opportunity to organize my own house (which thrilled me by the way, I am at the peak of happiness when I am organizing)
Want an example? Okay, so our landlord guy came over a few weeks ago to fix our ceiling because our lovely neighbors poked a hole in our roof, and so for a while we enjoyed the rain from the inside of our house as well as the outside.
And mind you, our landlord was very aware he was making a mess of our house and thoroughly cleaned up after himself when he was finished, which I very much appreciated.
But while he was working, I almost had a panic attack. There was all these ceiling shavings and tools and ceiling related things everywhere and the only thing going through my mind over and over again was 'clutter, mess, clean!'
My brain had literally become cluttered because my world was cluttered. I couldn't think.
I seriously had to remove myself from the house until he was finished.
Heaven help me when I have a handful of kids running around cluttering up my immaculately organized house. Hopefully I get a little more relaxed before then.
But keeping all of this in mind, there are many things that I absolutely LOVE that help me be the oh, so loveable freak that I am:
1. Post-it Notes. They make my world colorful and structured.
2. Plastic Bins. When you live in a small apartment, these become your pride and joy.
3. Make-up bags. I have these all over my bathroom.
4. Garbage Day! Call me weird, but I love throwing things out that we don't need. It fills my heart with sunshine knowing that I can throw something out and it will never burden my house again!
I'll stop before I embarrass myself.
I'm still waiting for that special soul to buy me a label-maker and make my life complete.
Kids tend to even us out and smooth the rough edges of freakdom. Besides, you get to learn a new song, "clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere; clean up, clean up, everybody do your share". Sing it with your kids as you have them clean up their messes.
ReplyDeleteSheri likes to keep things clean and organized too. The advantages of being an organizer freak, are an uncluttered mind and increased feelings of the Spirit. Our kids have commented on how they feel when they are in a home that is disorganized and unclean. They notice the difference and have thanked their mother for the wonderful clean person she is. Your children with thank you as well. So, keep up the good work! :)
I remember Lorielle talking about how she appreciates her mom keeping things so orderly. Hopefully my kids will be clean freaks just like me!
